Pebble Mosaic for a Beautiful Path

The original idea came from celebrating the coronation of Charles III, in 2023. The design was based on the national flower emblems from the 2023 coronation logo; an English rose, Scottish thistle, Irish shamrock, and a Welsh leek, rather than a daffodil. The Canadian national flag, set to one side, is to celebrate the client's father who emigrated there after WW2.
The existing path was made of gravel and pieces of old York stone. The York stone was kept in place, the gravel dug out and a firm base laid. Pebbles were sourced from a local quarry, which adds to the feeling of the pieces belonging to the garden.
I loved the idea of creating art from items as simple as pebbles, sand and cement. It is also a functional path linking the house with the parking area, so it is looked at every time someone leaves or arrives.
Located in Southwold, it has a visual connection to the shingle of the beach
The wave patterns in the background are reminiscent of waves on the sea, but do not detract from the subject flowers, and without descending into a cliched seascape.
I am very happy to take commissions for mosaics. Please contact me to talk about your ideas.
Currently I am working on some off-the-shelf pieces which could be added when new paving is laid, added in later or laid as a piece within planting. These will be nature-based images; fish, dragonflies and similar creatures.
